J.Marz
Resident DJ

DeeJay J.Marz is a Chicago-based DJ who got started in 1995 when he bought his first setup.  It was his brother who introduced him to Hip-Hop and House music at an early age.  He used to listen to all his brothers house and hip-hop mix tapes which he used as a study guide to help define his style along with his mom’s record collection that ranged from salsa, soul, funk and r&b.  You can surely tell that it was the sound and musicality of the scratch that had J.Marz drawn to the turntables.  Within all his sets he will always treats the turntable as a musical instrument and never let his beloved art form die.

J.Marz has taken his love for turntablism in his early years and started a crew in 1998 by the name of “Phonograph Scientists” .  After doing a few turntable band shows in the city and throughout the Midwest; it landed them an opening spot for Akbar’s Big Bang Boogie Album release party in 2001.  Since then J.Marz has been actively involved in a new turntablist crew called BD3k (BeatDown3000) members include  DJ Chuck Fresh, Sage Fonte, Lord Dubious, JRD the Ambassador and Kinky P.  J.Marz is also one of the many talented resident radio DJ’s with Power Style Radio MixMasters  (DJ’s Moz Definite, IllaNoize, HanzSolo and Nobley Nobe) airing Tuesday nights from 8:30pm – 11:30pm on www.que4.org and now is a part of the nationally renowned Scratch DJ Academy in Chicago co-founded by Jam Master Jay.  In October 2014 he won the Championship in the first Battle Ave Cut2Cut competition in Chicago.  To follow J.Marz he can be found at:

E Double
Resident DJ

“Break DJ E Double” aka Erik was born in 1979, raised in Chicago, IL. As a
child growing up he would peek into his father’s record collection to look at his
Spanish records wondering how a record was played. Later on into his teens his
brother’s friends had turntables and they let him try them and experiment on how
to “mix” and “blend”.

His cousins formed a BBOY crew by the name of PHAZE II back in 1982 and
in 1998 they were working on a routine for a show they would later perform in a
Germany that year called Battle of the Year. As he watched their routine, Dj Presyce
was sitting next to him while listening to the music he provided for their show.
While Presyce was sitting next to him he decided to take advantage of the moment
and ask as many questions as he could. One question was the name of the artist who
created the song “The Mexican”. DJ Presyce was gracious enough to drop some
knowledge and from that moment, he guided Edouble in the right direction to
search for the music, to love the music, and to respect the music as well.

Fast forward to the present, he’s proud to say that he’s had the privilege to Dj
across the country for himself and for his crew PHAZE II. He’s DJ’d in Boston for the
Floor lords anniversary, he did the first Battle of the Year in the United States in Los
Angeles, California. He’s been to Iowa and Wisconsin as well. If there was a style to
describe him as a DJ he thinks he would say he is well rounded like his crew
members. He’s very traditional in the way he spins. If he was around the time that
Hip Hop began, he would be spinning the same way with the same flavor. The
genres he spins are Latin funk, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Hip Hop etc…
