Joleen Rose Interview 9-1-15

Joleen Rose aka Queenleen on the dance floor is a woman who wears many hats. She is a teacher, business woman, dancer, choreographer, event promoter, makeup artist and what people call a hustler. What started it all was her passion to dance that began at the age of 5 in a small Ballet/Jazz class, a talent that she calls a gift from God.

Joleen herself loves all forms of dance but if she was asked today what her style of dance is she would say “I just dance!” Known for her groove and sass Joleen incorporates house, waacking, new jack and street jazz into her freestyle. After years of performing and teaching in 2012 Joleen, along with her partner Candice Howard started a dance company called Idem (ee-dum) Dance. Their mission; to provide dancers of all styles and ages with affordable opportunities to dance, compete, and to obtain dance apparel.

Idem Dance grew very quickly in Florida and is well known for its yearly dance competition called Beyond Creativity Conference. With the need of the arts continually growing Joleen and Candice decided it was time to make an even larger impact on their community so in 2015 they were officially granted their 501 c3 approval for the Defining Movement Inc. DM will provide a positive and affordable location for the arts community to call home. Together the team is working towards opening the center in 2016.

Wether she is judging a dance battle or working on her next event, Joleen’s goal is to be a positive light in a world that can be full of negativity and hate. She believes in unity and the happiness that the arts can bring to this world wether you dance, paint, sing, etc. Joleen recently created her own website and youtube channel to inspire, motivate and showcase all of her talents to an even larger audience.
