Big Herc is an underground hip hop vet from the South Side of Chicago with over 20 years of experience under his belt. He served time with various labels and over the years managed to rock the same stage and mics as legends in the industry. Early in his career he fell in with a Chicago record label that started doing big things but seemed to be limiting his talent, catering only to a certain demographic in the Chicago area. That wasn’t his style. It was time to move on. For years after leaving the label he lined up shows and jumped on tours traveling all over the country making a living out of selling CDs and t-shirts on the road and on his online store that has been up and running since 1997. In 2007 he formed the group, 1FIFTY1, with fellow emcee Fresco and DJ/Producer OG Style(Delinquent Habits). They had a great run killing it in the Midwest opening for such major acts as Wu-Tang Clan, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Lupe Fiasco, Sublime with Rome, Tech N9ne and the list goes on and on. Eventually Big Herc lost interest in touring and being a recording artist, he decided it was time to follow his other interests and talents by returning to college. He now does animation and graphic/merchandise design for different movies, TV shows, college & professional sports teams and bands. In addition to his design work, he built of his own roster of “golden age” artists including DAS EFX, Ras Kass, Cypress Hill and Schoolly D to release his own line of exclusive merchandise and limited edition albums. With the relationships that he built over the years and being able to work with his favorite artists on a daily basis he has been able to find a unique outlet, being heavily involved with the music industry no longer having to touch a microphone. He couldn’t be any happier right now.
