Ryan Swift A.K.A Dj Gilateen lived in Waukegan il and grew up there his whole life. His entire life music has been his passion since he was little and loves all kinds of music except country. Got into DJing a long time ago because he had a studio at his house. He saw a friend doing a scratch track and was amazed at what he was doing so that’s when he got hooked. Then he started to scratch alot and kept practicing everyday. This started around 1999 so he’s been djing for about 18years.
About three years ago he went to an open turntable scratch session in chicago and meet a few DJs. He then found out about these scratch battles and started to participate in them. It was a great time seeing all that talent in the same room which got him even more inspired to work even harder to improve his skills. All his hard word had finally paid off when he won his first scratch battle on 7-20 this year which was a huge accomplishment. He was so happy to just be apart of this and to come out on top to win. He will continue to push and work even harder so he can continue doing what he lives and loves to do.
